GNM and B.Sc. Nursing Course

Nursing is a noble profession that is one of the most stable and secure job prospects in the country. To pursue a career as a nurse you must graduate respective undergraduate course at the least. GNM and BSc. Nursing is two such courses that you can pursue to built a career as a nurse. You must graduate either of these courses from a reputed organization to pursue higher study or get a job.

GNM nursing is a 3.5 years diploma course. In some universities, it also includes a 6 months internship and the degree is granted only after completing it.

On the other hand, BSc. Nursing is a full-time undergraduate course of 4 years. You can pursue it right after school from any recognized college or university of the country.

Eligibility criteria for GNM and B.Sc. Nursing

Both GNM and BSc. Nursing has similar eligibility requirement with slight variations. The following are basic eligibility criteria for the courses:


Duration of GNM Nursing: 3 Years

Duration of B.Sc Nursing: 3 Years


The student must clear the entrance test for GNM and BSc. Nursing admission.

They must have science in their 10+2 subject combination with physics, chemistry and biology. They require 45% marks minimal in all these subjects.

Candidates should be between 17-31 years to seek admission in BSc. Nursing.

In case of GNM nursing, they must have minimum 50% aggregate in their 10+2 exam. The minimum marks can vary from one institution to another.

Job prospects of GNM and B.Sc. Nursing

The career prospects after both degrees are quite similar. You can seek job opportunities in the following organization and designations:

Salary is lucrative for freshers as well after completing the course. The amount is variable and depends largely on the organization that you join.
